Program Details

  • The Foundry will run for 10 weeks, starting the week of August 28.
  • Founders are expected to spend 3-4 hours per week with the Mentors to review a series of issues about the business.
  • Topics to review include customer pain points, market segmentation, competitive landscape, roadmap, business model, as well as customer development. Depending on the needs, founders could choose to spend more time in some specific areas.
  • Several SKTA service provider partners will also be invited to give workshops on IP strategy, corporate laws, commercial agreements, fund raising, and financial planning and modeling.
  • Founders are provided access to the SKTA co-working space.
  • Other community events will also be organized, like roundtables, happy hours etc. that founders and mentors can attend as their schedules permit.

Invaluable Resources – Mentorship

Probably the most invaluable resource the Program brings to the startups is the unparalleled depth and breadth of experience and resources of SK Telecom and the Innopartners’ Mentors.  Currently, there are over 25 mentors in the group consist of over Fortune 1000 senior executives, successful founders, VCs, and corporate investors.

Each startup will be paired up with at least one mentor through the program, where they will receive 1-on-1 coaching and advisory on a weekly basis. The program is structured such that founders and mentors can focus on specific areas of the business each week – from go-to-market plan, business model, financial planning, customer validations, IP strategy, as well as pitch coaching.  A mentor may be subject matter expert in the startup’s space, while another mentor can advise on the business or sales aspects of the business.

While this is not absolutely mandatory, it is recommended that an advisor agreement be put in place between the startups and the mentors to formalize the relationship. The Mentors are not only giving their precious time and advice to the startups, but also potentially bringing great value to the startup through their networks of resources.

Demo Day

At the end of the Foundry, startups successfully completed the program will have a chance to showcase their business and products at the Demo Day in front of a large group of angel investors, VCs and corporate partners.  SKTA Innopartners will also evaluate the startups for potential investment opportunity.
