SUNNYVALE, CALIF.–October 30, 2014 – SKTA Innopartners welcomes Bay Storage Technology into the Innovation Accelerator in Sunnyvale. By leveraging leading-edge software architecture together with standard enterprise class hardware, Bay Storage provides datacenter storage solutions that deliver much higher performance than flash arrays, with no changes to existing applications. Bay Storage Technology joins N42, eTopus Technology and Pavilion Data Systems as the fourth startup to be funded by SKTA Innopartners in 2014.
Bay Storage Technology was founded in 2010 by an experienced team of technologists with a proven track record in high-performance systems and interconnects. They want to deliver an advanced network-connected storage with higher performance and lower cost than any other solution available in the market. Combining a unique low latency protocol with a highly optimized software stack running on standard hardware allows them to deliver on their vision. The CEO and co-founder, Tom McWilliams is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in storage and enterprise software. Prior to Bay Storage, Tom was the CTO and Chairman of Schooner Technologies, which was acquired by SanDisk in 2012. Tom was also CEO and co-founder of PathScale, which was acquired by QLogic, and co-founder of Valid Logic Systems, which went public in 1983.
