SKTA Innopartners Works with San Jose State University Students for Upcoming Projects

Sunnyvale, Calif… SKTA Innopartners teams up with San Jose State University students for its business development and public relations. Angel Orrantia, Business Development Director, consulted with the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program, incorporating two groups of students from the Department of Accounting and Finance, the School of Global Innovation & Leadership and the School of Management . Orrantia also included Dwight Bentel Hall, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s public relations and advertising agency.

The Sbona Honors Program selects qualified undergraduate students to participate in providing innovative solutions for real business problems. One group from the Sbona Honors Program will develop a gap analysis of the services offered by the Innovation Accelerator against those of independent accelerators, globally. Building on the gap analysis, the students will propose steps to not only fill the gaps, but leapfrog the competition.

With the other Sbona Honors Program’s group, SKTA outlined the project proposal welcoming the students to take executive roles in developing a pricing model for a planned outsourced incubation service targeting other strategic investors. These students will complete a global survey of accelerators to understand their pricing and service offerings. Based on the survey results, the students will then formulate a pricing model SKTA will use to launch their incubation service.

“We are pleased to give students the opportunity to work with us on our highest priority and visible projects,” says Orrantia. “The students receive real-world, referenceable experience and an employment advantage in the technology industry.”

Dwight Bentel Hall (DBH), the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s public relations and advertising agency, is the first of its kind on the West Coast giving comprehensive and challenging communications experience to selected advertising and public relations students. DBH manages the Accelerator’s social media sites and campaigns, creates multimedia presentations, draft press releases and conduct event planning services. Given the quality of work and responsiveness of DBH, the Accelerator’s portfolio companies have expressed interest in obtaining their services.
